Account Development Executive Role

Minneapolis, MN

What Makes This Role Unique

  • Customer-First Execution: You’re not chasing leads—you’re turning warm interest into loyal partnerships.
  • Defined Boundaries: You own the quote-to-delivery experience (limited, but some booking and post-delivery financials) so you can stay focused and efficient.
  • Room to Grow: Work closely with Sales, Pricing, Account Management, and Customer Excellence (CE), and help shape the early experience for new customers.
  • Impact-Driven: You're the face of execution, ensuring customer satisfaction and internal alignment every step of the way.

Key Responsibilities

Outreach & Quoting

  • Engage warm and low-potential leads to convert interest into freight opportunities.
  • Provide spot and low-volume pricing with urgency and accuracy.
  • Follow up on quotes and manage communication through award decisions.
  • Relentlessly follow up on every quote to maximize conversion and insights.
  • Partner with Sales to free up capacity and ensure handoff for high-potential accounts.
  • Support RFP submissions, collaborating with team members on more complex Excel work.

Execution

  • Accept awarded loads and manage allotment for low-volume awards.
  • Build loads and schedule appointments:
  • If longer lead time: route to Customer Excellence (CE)
  • If same/next-day urgency: own the execution directly
  • Monitor load board for full visibility of assigned portfolio.
  • Proactively cover loads when needed—PEs must be resourceful and responsive.

Communication & Milestone Updates

  • ETA to pickup
  • Picked up
  • In transit / on track
  • Delivered
  • Exceptions / urgent updates
  • Communicate per customer expectations and provide timely escalations.

Financial Accuracy

  • Ensure pricing and billing are accurate upfront.
  • Review and validate post-delivery accessorials (CE to request; Accounting to process).

Documentation & Process Ownership

  • Build and maintain Account SOPs.
  • Lead “Lite Implementation” process for lower-volume or spot-only customers.
  • Identify and coordinate transition from PE to Account Management (~2–5 loads/week).
  • Ensure a smooth customer handoff through transparent onboarding.

Out of Scope

  • Carrier sales and coverage (booking is owned by Carrier team but at time you may be expected to help cover your own freight)
  • In-transit tracking updates (owned by CE)
  • Post-delivery accessorial requests (initiated by CE, approved by Accounting)
  • Financial processing (handled by Accounting)

  • Driven by customer satisfaction, hustle, and follow-through.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with multiple daily priorities.
  • Competitive and proactive—treats every quote like a must-win.
  • Adaptable communicator who adjusts based on whether customers are transactional or relationship-based.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and making quick decisions with incomplete information.
  • Bias toward action—not an order taker or passive participant.
  • Willing to get on the phone, solve problems in real time, and follow up relentlessly.

Required:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 6+ months experience in customer engagement, logistics, or operations
